Joeys announcements
17 September 2019
Our term breakup was at Hard Rock indoor rock climbing. We attached ourselves to the safety belays and then climbed the walls on little bumps that stick out. We all climbed really high! |

Tonight we visited the Kew Cemetery! We walked around with two guides and saw a pile of different graves and monuments. Some of them were really big, and others were really old. We learned some things about people who lived in the area in the 1800s. |

Tonight was geocaching at Hays Paddock! Gang-gang gave us the first clue when we got across Kilby road, and we were off! The first clue was stuck with a magnet to the pipe bridge. It told us to go to the basketball hoop. That's where we found our first actual cache. In it was another clue, and we had to cross both ovals to the low platforms over there. The next cache was hard to find, but eventually we found it underneath the platform. This one told us to find the furthest archery target. There we found some prizes and the instruction to go and meet the bunyip in the playground. Gladly! |

Last night we stayed at the hall because it's still too dark at this time of year to muck about in Glass Creek - we wouldn't be able to see where we were going. Instead, we started off playing games with Emma and Jan outside. When we were worn out, we went inside and Gang-gang got us to create a collage. It was supposed to be about an environment, but we pretty much got to do what we wanted to. After that was done, we listened to Gang-gang read a story about listening and looking for a bunyip. |

Last night was cooking night! We made scones. First, we sorted out the ingredients, and measured what we needed. Then we sifted the flour and added salt, butter and milk. We gave it a quick mix and the Gang-gang kneaded it and divided it into 8 portions. We put them on an oven tray and Jan baked them in the oven while we talked about where the ingredients came from on the parts of a farm. Then we ate the scones with butter and jam or honey. Yummy! |

Last night the Joeys went on a night walk. We crossed High
Street and went through the bushland up to Stradbroke Park. We stopped every so
often to look at plants and weeds, and to see what we could hear.
We picked up a bit of rubbish, and learned that a weed is just a plant that you don't want growing there. Gang-gang wanted to find a Tawny Frogmouth but there weren't any around. Some of us saw a big bat though - a Grey-headed Flying-fox. |
6 August 2019
Tonight was messy night! We all got to play with gooey stuff
like cold porridge and something called oobleck! We also built some things with
clay and had to grab apples out of a bucket of water using just our mouths -
that was a bit difficult.
Gang-gang was really pleased that we all got our hands dirty. If we want to learn about the environment, sometimes we have to get a bit messy. He also taught us a rhyme: Scab and matter custard |

Welcome back for the new term! This term we're working
towards out environment badges, and to start with, we planted some flower seeds
in egg cartons, which are made from recycled cardboard.
Tonight we also did some planning. It's called a Mob Council. We tried to remember what we liked best last term and made some suggestions for what we want to do more of. We really liked cooking last term, so we'll do some more soon. |

Tonight we didn't go to the hall at all - instead we went to Bounce for our term breakup and played on trampolines all night, along with our friends at 1st Greythorn Park. After it was over we had a joint HOP and watched one new Joey being invested into the 1st Greythorn Park mob, and then we received our buddy badges! |
