Dear Parents and Scouts,
To achieve my Scout Medallion, I am running a 35km hike on
the Great Ocean Road over the ANZAC Day long weekend. The plan is to leave the
Scout Hall on the Friday morning of ANZAC Day where we will make our way to Jan
Juc, which is located a kilometre away from Torquay, to commence the hike. We
plan to camp the first night in Anglesea and on the Saturday night in Aireys
Inlet. The hike will finish at Moggs Creek on Sunday morning. This hike has
beautiful scenery and has an easy grade, so all ages are fine to attend. This
is a great opportunity as well for Scouts to complete badge work whilst
partaking in the hike.
If you think that your Scout will be interested in
participating on this hike, please let me know as soon as possible, either via
email or on Thursday night at Scouts, so I can calculate the costs of the hike
and finalise the camp site accommodation fees. If any parents are able to
assist with the transportation of Scouts to or from the hike, that would also
be greatly appreciated. A map, an equipment list and a medical form will be
sent out early next week, along with the final details of the costs.
Thanks,
Katie Berridge.
